  • Texas added 34,000 private sector jobs, or 0.3 percent. on a seasonally adjusted basis during April. In the prior month, Texas added 23,600 jobs. Texas private sector payroll employment has increased in 10 of the past 12 months.

  • Nationally, private sector payroll jobs rose by 167,000 jobs in April, or 0.1 percent. Texas is tied for 8th in the nation for percentage gain in private sector payroll employment over the past 12 months.

  • The best performing sectors on a seasonally adjusted basis during April were Professional and Business Services (10,900) and Education and Health Services (7,400).

  • The poorest performing sectors during the month were Information (-200) and Other Services (-3,600).

  • The best performing sectors during the last 12 months were Education and Health Services (40,000) and Government (37,600).

  • The poorest performing sectors during the last 12 months were Mining and Logging (3,000) and Information (800).
