  • Nationally, private sector payroll jobs rose by 140,000 jobs in May, or 0.1 percent. Texas is tied for 6th in the nation for percentage gain in private sector payroll employment over the past 12 months.

  • The best performing sectors on a seasonally adjusted basis during May were Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (8,400) and Leisure and Hospitality (8,200).

  • The poorest performing sectors during the month were Information (-1,400) and Professional and Business Services (-1,400).

  • The best performing sectors during the last 12 months were Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (41,100) and Education and Health Services (40,800).

  • The poorest performing sectors during the last 12 months were Manufacturing (4,400) and Information (-500).
