Recent financial disclosures show that President Trump reported at least $2.2 billion in income in 2025, which is more than three times higher than what he made in 2024. Trump’s earnings last year came largely from new ventures such as the Trump memecoin – which made him around $636 million while nearly 1 million individual people who invested in the coin lost, in total, billions of dollars. Trump also profited from Trump and Republican Party events at his properties, and from significant transactions that Trump enterprises conducted with foreign companies and foreign governments. In addition, Forbes reported that in 2025 Trump was having the "most lucrative year of his life" while serving as the country’s highest ranking public servant.
As Trump profited off of the presidency, the Joint Economic Committee – Minority found that the average American family lost about $1,625 in 2025 due to inflation under Trump. In total in 2025, American families lost $219 billion to inflation costs. This means that President Trump personally profited more than 1.3 million times the amount that the average family lost. In 2026 these costs have risen even further, and as of June the average family has paid $3,500+ more in inflation costs under Trump.
Trump’s Actions Raised Prices for Americans While Benefiting Himself
In 2025, President Trump – with the help of Congressional Republicans – imposed reckless tariffs that drove up costs and created economic uncertainty that further contributed to rising costs. As the cost of food, electricity, and other everyday essentials for families continued to climb, Trump and Congressional Republicans also passed tax giveaways to the top 0.1%, which they paid for through health care cuts.
In 2026, President Trump and Congressional Republicans have continued to cause prices to go up, especially as a result of Trump’s war in Iran, which has already caused Americans to pay $60 billion more for gas, or $504 more per household. In addition, Republicans’ refusal to extend affordable health care tax cuts has driven up health care costs and already forced millions of people to lose health insurance. Meanwhile, the President has continued to increase his personal profits throughout 2026 – including by purchasing stocks of companies in anticipation of official administration actions that benefitted those same companies, and by monetizing his own social media account, which he often uses to make market-moving announcements as president.
