Ranking Member Mike Lee on March Jobs Report

WASHINGTON—Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), Ranking Member of the Joint Economic Committee, made the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the economy added 431,000 jobs in March:

"Now that Congress has stopped providing more disincentives to work, workers are finally coming off the sidelines. Yet many Americans reconnecting to work are facing renewed setbacks and challenges. Families in Utah paid $582 more this month to purchase the same goods they did last year. Meanwhile, President Biden's budget request to Congress only doubled down on the tax-and-spend policies that have passed along higher costs to poor and middle class families at every turn.

"The best job creation policy Washington can pursue is to get out of the way and allow America's workers, families, and businesses to thrive without the crippling burdens of reckless taxation and wasteful spending."

The Joint Economic Committee is Congress's bicameral economic research center and home of the Social Capital Project, led by Ranking Member Mike Lee.
