Idaho Payroll Employment

  • Nationally, nonfarm payrolls rose by 177,000 in April, or 0.1 percent. Idaho ranks 3rd in the nation for percentage gain in nonfarm payroll employment over the past 12 months.

  • Idaho added 3,400 private sector jobs, or 0.5 percent. on a seasonally adjusted basis during April. In the prior month, Idaho lost 1,300 jobs. Idaho private sector payroll employment has increased in 9 of the past 12 months.

  • Nationally, private sector payroll jobs rose by 167,000 jobs in April, or 0.1 percent. Idaho is tied for 2nd in the nation for percentage gain in private sector payroll employment over the past 12 months.

  • The best performing sectors on a seasonally adjusted basis during April were Education and Health Services (2,200) and Professional and Business Services (1,600).

  • The poorest performing sectors during the month were Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (-400) and Construction (-500).

  • The best performing sectors during the last 12 months were Construction (6,200) and Leisure and Hospitality (3,600).

  • The poorest performing sectors during the last 12 months were Mining and Logging tied with Trade, Transportation, and Utilities; and Government (0) and Information (-200).
