UPDATED DATA: Inflation, Gasoline Costs Continue to Soar Under President Trump

New reports show that families have spent $2,300 more each on daily expenses since Trump took officeAmericans have paid $16 billion more on gas since start of Iran War

WASHINGTON – Today, the Joint Economic Committee – Minority released two updated reports on state-by-state inflation cost data and gasoline price data.

The state-by-state inflation costs report found that Americans have spent on average $2,300 more on goods and services because of inflation under President Trump. The report includes that Americans are spending an average of $477 more for housing expenses, such as rent or mortgage payments, and $368 more for transportation costs, such as for a new or used car, car repairs, and gas. This is despite President Trump’s previous pledge to “end inflation.”

The gasoline costs report found that Americans have now paid more than $16 billion more at the pump since President Trump began his reckless war with Iran. This number is nearly twice as much as the cost increase of $8.4 billion the Committee reported at the end of March. Families in all 50 states continue to spend millions more for the gas that they need to commute to work, run errands, pick up their kids, and live their daily lives.

Americans across the country continue to pay the price for President Trump’s decisions,” said U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan, Ranking Member of the Joint Economic CommitteeHis reckless tariffs and war against Iran have driven up costs for hardworking families at a time when many already struggle to make ends meet.”
