Government Shutdown Impacts Data Availability and Updates
WASHINGTON, DC – The lapse in appropriations (government shutdown) has impacted the availability of some data used in the Joint Economic Committee’s Monthly Employment Update. As a result, the update this month only includes data from the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey released Tuesday, September 30. The JEC will incorporate data from the Employment Situation release—previously scheduled for today—into the Monthly Employment Update once the Bureau of Labor Statistics resumes necessary operations.
The lapse in appropriations is also expected to impact the Monthly Trade Update, scheduled for release on October 7, but not the Monthly Debt Update also scheduled for release on that day.
