Statement from JEC Vice Chair Klobuchar on April 2013 Employment Report

May 03 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Vice Chair of the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee (JEC), released the following statement on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ April 2013 jobs report showing that 165,000 total nonfarm jobs were added and the unemployment rate fell from 7.6% to 7.5%:

“Today’s report shows we’ve clearly come a long way and are seeing promising bright spots throughout our economy, but there's no question we still have more to do. That's why I held a hearing last week to look at policies for reducing long-term unemployment and I will continue to work with my colleagues on the Joint Economic Committee to advance commonsense solutions that strengthen our economy so Americans can get back to work."
